Our Philosophy

Our long-standing motto is “principles first.” This means that we make every reasonable effort to treat one another and the community with respect. We do not presume to be superior to anyonw. As the saying goes: “there but for the grace of God go I.”  Further, we believe that we cannot successfully suggest & encourage positive choices if we do not take care of ourselves first by acting in an ethical and responsible manner in our dealings with others.

We all bleed red blood, so our first focus is to determine whether a crisis exists.  Health and safety is a primary consideration.

Our approach and philosophy is to ‘maintain consistency.’

The material presented in this group is a common sense approach that relies on responsibility and commitment for you. After self-destructing behaviors are explored they examine the reasons for hanging on to behavior that creates unhappiness. This puts all the responsibility for what you are and how you feel on you. “Your Erroneous Zones” by Dr. Wayne D. Dyer.

We also use a video series presented by Stanton Samenow, which clearly describes “Criminal Thinking Errors” and “Tactics” that lend to criminal behavior.

Another piece is the use of Bradshaw: On the family, a ten part video series with a focus on the crisis within the family today, how attitudes become encoded within family members and then acted out within the family and society as a whole.
