Men's Cognitive Self-Change Program
Over the last ten years, KADA has worked closely with Klamath County Corrections and Klamath County Drug Court. During that time we have worked on developing an outpatient program that specifically meets the needs of Corrections and Drug Court clients. Although the focus of the program is on mandated clients, it has been effective for non-mandated clients that are entrenched in their chemical dependency.
The core of this program is Cognitive Self Change. The base of Cognitive Change is the simple fact that how people think has a controlling effect on how they act. The focus of the program is to assist clients to become aware of their thinking, and to make value based decisions to change that thinking, mind-set and beliefs and the related behavior. Additional components of these groups are traditional treatment tools such as an alcohol and drug history, relapse prevention work as needed and developing a sober support network.

Native American Women's Group
In this group we use a seven tape video series and a workbook specifically created for native women using the twelve step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. This program is not intended for every Native American woman, but for those who are willing to participate and put forth the necessary effort toward their recovery. You can take from it what you feel will help you grow. It is designed so as not to intrude on any particular Indian culture. The basic premise is that:
1. All native cultures believe in a Higher Power (Supreme Being).
2. We believe in the elders as a guiding force.
3. We believe all tribal nations are different from each other.
4. We believe chemical dependency is destroying us and we want to recover.
5. We believe there is a natural order running the universe.
6. We believe our traditional ways were compliment the natural order.
7. A spiritual person is one who screws up everyday and keeps coming back to the creator.
8. Those who walk this road will find that our thoughts must change to the way warriors think.
The approach of this program to Native American sobriety allows a person to achieve sobriety and grow tremendously. It is a warrior's path which can move a person from despair to a life of happiness. Becoming sober is a journey into the self, a sojourn in which a person discovers what spirituality means.

Culture Group
The Culture Group is conducted in accordance with state and federal standards and rules.
KADA Counselors refer enrolled clients to the group who would likely benefit from the group as a tool to achieve a treatment goal. We believe alcoholism and drug addiction is a disease and is treatable. Culture and spiritual growth for individuals, family and community could empower us to live positive lives in balance and harmony. Through videos, discussion of videos, filling out group therapy reports. Reading handout materials, completing homework assignments regarding cultures and spiritual values.
Facilitator s required to provide case notes related to each client within seven days of service delivery.

Errors in Thinking Group
The material presented in this group is a common sense approach that relies on responsibility and commitment for you. After self-destructing behaviors are explored they examine the reasons for hanging on to behavior that creates unhappiness. This puts all the responsibility for what you are and how you feel on you. "Your Erroneous Zones" by Dr. Wayne D. Dyer.
We also use a video series presented by Stanton Samenow, which clearly describes "Criminal Thinking Errors" and "Tactics" that lend to criminal behavior.
Another piece is the use of Bradshaw: On the family, a ten part video series with a focus on the crisis within the family today, how attitudes become encoded within family members and then acted out within the family and society as a whole.

Lifeskills Program
The Life-skills Program focuses primarily on career development for clients. People referred to the Life-skills Program have typically completed treatment and learned to deal with most of their basic needs.
Typically they are underemployed, therefore career development is the focus of most groups. During group sessions members check in with their current status. Often participants will discuss issues related to their current employment. If needed, we participate in networking skills as part of the group process. Group participants learn about a number of resources available to them including: |
